Working Environment: The “Ross” is an accredited 187 bed community hospital that meets the needs of over a combined 100,000 local citizens and seasonal visitors. A blend of primary and secondary services is provided by a group of family physicians, specialists, and midwives to address the complex needs of our community. Many family physicians provide primary services, either via direct care to inpatients, providing surgical assist, supporting the hospitalist program, providing primary obstetrical or emergency services, according to their professional interest.
How It All Comes Together: A core of general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, ophthalmologists and obstetricians support a broad range of surgical services. These surgical services are supported by a blend of FRCP and GP anesthetists. A team of internists support a 24/7 ICU and consultation services including a full range of cardiology, GI diagnostic testing, respirology and endocrinology. The “Ross” is a Schedule 1 Mental Health Facility supported by psychiatrists and with an extensive Mental Health Program. Emergency medicine is provided by family physicians (with and without EM designation) for over 30,000 visits per year on a 24/7 basis. A state-of-the-art Diagnostic Imaging service is supported by on-site and off-site radiologists, allowing maintenance of 24/7 CT and MRI services. Specific patient needs are also supported by having an inpatient rehabilitation service, an eight bed palliative care unit, an outpatient dialysis unit, and chronic complex care capability. The City of Kawartha Lakes, located 90 minutes from downtown Toronto and Pearson International Airport, is the rural paradise of south-central Ontario. Encompassing the communities of Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Kinmount, Lindsay, Omemee and Woodville, the City boasts both small town charm and cottage country beauty.
