Full Time Obstetrician/Gynecologist – Woodstock Hospital, ON

Woodstock Hospital is a full-service 178-bed community hospital located at 310 Juliana Drive, Woodstock, Ontario. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services to residents of Woodstock, Oxford County, and surrounding communities.
Woodstock Hospital delivers approximately 1,100 births annually and operates a Level 1B obstetrical program supported by a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, family physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, pediatric providers, nursing staff, lactation consultants, social workers and allied health professionals.

The hospital serves a regional catchment population of approximately 130,000 residents and provides comprehensive surgical, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, critical care, rehabilitation, psychiatry and women’s health services.

Woodstock Hospital is seeking two (2) permanent full-time Obstetricians/Gynecologists to join our Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities include:

• Obstetrical Care: Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients throughout pregnancy, labour, delivery and the postpartum period. Provide antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care. Attend and manage vaginal and operative deliveries within granted hospital privileges. Diagnose and manage obstetrical complications and emergencies. Provide obstetrical consultations for hospitalized patients and emergency department referrals. Participate in the department’s on-call schedule and provide timely coverage for obstetrical services.

• Gynecological Care: Assess, diagnose and treat acute and chronic gynecological conditions. Provide consultations, treatment planning, follow-up care and patient counselling in outpatient clinic settings. Prescribe medications, diagnostic investigations and therapeutic treatments as appropriate. Educate patients regarding reproductive health, contraception, family planning, menopause management and other women’s health issues.

• Surgical Services: Perform obstetrical and gynecological procedures and surgeries consistent with granted hospital privileges. Participate in elective and emergency surgical services through the hospital’s operating rooms and perioperative programs. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nursing staff and surgical teams to provide safe and effective patient care.

• Inpatient and Hospital-Based Services: Conduct inpatient assessments and consultations. Develop treatment plans and coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Maintain complete and accurate medical documentation. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, midwives, social workers and allied healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.

• Quality Improvement and Professional Activities: Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs and continuing professional development activities. Support the ongoing development and delivery of obstetrical and gynecological services at Woodstock Hospital. Adhere to hospital by-laws, policies, credentialing requirements and professional standards.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree.
• Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent specialist certification recognized for licensure in Ontario.
• Eligibility for independent registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
• Demonstrated competency in labour and delivery management.
• Demonstrated competency in the assessment and management of obstetrical emergencies.
• Demonstrated experience providing inpatient and outpatient obstetrical and gynecological care.
• Ability to perform obstetrical and gynecological procedures and surgeries consistent with hospital privileges.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and meet departmental call coverage requirements.
• Effective oral and written English communication skills.
• Strong organizational, clinical decision-making and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care.

Wages

Wages as a Permanent, Full-Time Obstetrician/Gynecologist are Fee for service pursuant to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan Schedule of Benefits and Fees

for 37.5 hours per week plus participation in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on-call schedule. Obstetricians/Gynecologists are entitled to 4 weeks’ vacation.
