Join Island Health’s Department of Psychiatry as a General Psychiatrist in the beautiful community of Parksville. This full-time opportunity is based at the Oceanside Health Centre, a state-of-the-art facility bringing physicians and allied health and community care providers together in an interdisciplinary environment serving Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

You will provide psychiatric consultation and care to patients and their families, primary care physicians and health care professionals in an outpatient setting, with the opportunity to develop a diverse community-based practice. Community services may also include working with mental health and substance use teams, providing rehabilitation support and case management for adults, as well as psychiatric consultation for primary care referrals.

You will join a collegial group of psychiatrists working across the Central Island region, including Oceanside, Port Alberni, Ladysmith and Nanaimo. As part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, you will work alongside case management clinicians, nurses, occupational therapists, rehabilitation support, social workers and psychologists to provide comprehensive care within a recovery-oriented, culturally safe and trauma-informed framework.

The position offers a broad scope of General Psychiatry, including the assessment and treatment of mood, psychotic, anxiety and substance use disorders, as well as OCD, PTSD, personality disorders, ADHD, ASD, eating disorders and psychiatric conditions associated with neurological and medical conditions.
