full time Obstetrics/Gynecology at Hanover & District Hospital
Hanover, Ontario
Job ID: 18618

Hanover and District Hospital (HDH), a small, rural hospital located in the heart of Grey-Bruce, Ontario, is seeking an Obstetrics (OBS) physician to join our dedicated medical team.

About Us

HDH is a community-focused hospital that provides high-quality, patient-centred care close to home. We are proud to operate a low-risk birth centre, supported by 24-hour surgical services back-up and access to epidural anesthesia, ensuring that families can safely deliver their babies in a rural setting while having immediate access to advanced care if needed. Our robust obstetrics program also offers a weekly prenatal clinic for patients beginning at 28 weeks gestation, providing continuity of care throughout the pregnancy journey.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an Obstetrics physician to support prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care in our low-risk obstetrics program. Physicians participate in a shared on-call rotation, one week at a time, with compensation provided through the Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) Program. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a collegial environment with an excellent team of nurses, family physicians, and allied health professionals, while making a direct impact on maternal and newborn care in our community.

What We Offer

• A supportive, team-based environment with collegial physicians and nursing staff.
• A low-risk obstetrics program with surgical and anesthetic back-up available 24/7.
• A weekly prenatal clinic beginning at 28 weeks for continuity of care.
• Competitive compensation, including rural incentives, on-call stipends, and HOCC coverage.
• Opportunities to shape and strengthen rural obstetrical care.
• Work-life balance in a welcoming, family-friendly community with access to outdoor recreation, affordable living, and a slower pace of life.
• Access to continuing medical education and professional development.

Qualifications

• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in Ontario.
• Experience in low-risk obstetrics required;
• Additional training in family practice obstetrics, anesthesia, or emergency medicine considered an asset.

Required certifications/courses:
o Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
o Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
o Willing to obtain ACORN certification.

Location

Hanover, Ontario is a thriving rural community with a strong sense of community, located within driving distance of larger centres such as Owen Sound, Guelph, and Kitchener-Waterloo.
