Position Overview
The Division of General Obstetrics & Gynaecology within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Queen’s University at Kingston invites applications for a Clinical Academic Obstetrician Gynecologist appointment. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing clinical care, education, and scholarly activity in the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. This position is to fill an existing vacancy within the University.

The Division of General Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Queen’s University has eight members, who have busy clinical practices and contribute to the administrative, educational and research activities of the Department. There is a fully accredited and excellent residency training program, and all Departmental Members are expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programs at Queen’s University. The Department supports the academic development of clinical faculty through mentorship, allocated academic time, access to research infrastructure, and teaching development opportunities, consistent with the expectations of clinical academic appointments.

Role Description
The successful applicant will be expected to:
• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
• Participate fully in the clinical service of the Division
• Provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care to patients in the Kingston area
• Participate in shared call responsibilities
• Contribute to departmental academic and administrative activities

The successful incumbent must demonstrate:
• Teaching effectiveness in undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education
• Evidence of scholarly or research productivity (e.g., publications, presentations)
• Clinician-investigator or translational research capacity supported by graduate-level research training or equivalent research experience and potential for future externally funded research.
• Strong ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative clinical environment
• Experience in clinical program development, quality improvement, or patient safety initiatives (asset)

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will:
• Hold an MD degree (or equivalent)
• Be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Be certified, or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Demonstrate training and experience in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS)
• Have additional expertise in a focused area of obstetrics—such as maternal–fetal health, obstetrical complications, or clinically relevant research within general obstetrics and gynecology (considered an asset)
• Participate in the shared obstetrical weekday/night and weekend call schedule
