Details: Winnipeg MB, CA ASSOCIATE PROVINCIAL MEDICAL SPECIALTY LEAD (SH)/WRHA REGIONAL MEDICAL SPECIATLY LEAD – EMERGENCY – PART TIME 0.3 FTE The Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Lead/WRHA Regional Specialty Lead is jointly appointed by the WRHA Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Provincial Medical Specialty Lead (PMSL), Emergency Medicine. The Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Leader/WRHA Regional Specialty Lead shall assist the WRHA CMO as appropriate in carrying out the Regional CMO’s responsibilities as set out in the Provincial Medical Staff By-Law. Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Leader /WRHA Regional Specialty Lead is responsible for the quality of medical care given by the physicians providing Emergency Medicine in the RHA. They will work closely with the PMSL, WRHA CMO, site specialty leaders and medical specialists to create a harmonious, patient-focused, health care system for the community. The Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Leader/ WRHA Regional Specialty Lead will assist the PMSL, Emergency Medicine in the implementation of the Provincial Clinical and Preventative Services Plan. To ensure a well-functioning provincial health system, the Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Leader/ WRHA Regional Specialty Lead shall ensure that regional policies and operations align with provincial directions. Recognizing the important linkages and overlapping activities between the Health Sciences Centre (Shared Health) and WRHA sites, the Associate Provincial Medical Specialty Leader/ WRHA Regional Specialty Lead plays a key role in coordination of efforts across sites in the capital region shall work with the PMSL and the site specialty leads. The Associate shall work closely with and report to the PMSL on WRHA matters that are integral to city wide emergency medicine such as pre-hospital and interfacility processes, balancing patient loads, physician staffing and physician remuneration recommendations. Responsibilities 1) Strategy & Change Contributes to the development and implementation of provincial and regional strategy, including: Provincial Clinical and Preventative Services Plan (CPSP) – In collaboration with the Regional CMO and the PMSL, Emergency Medicine supports the regional implementation of the province’s clinical and preventive services plan, in emergency medicine liaising with other regional Program and Regional Medical Specialty Leads as appropriate. Models of Care – In collaboration with the PMSL, participates in the development of new models of care and supports their implementation at the regional level. Metrics – In collaboration with the PMSL, reviews service performance, metrics, physician workload and other relevant issues. 2) Clinical Services Provides leadership in emergency medicine in the regional health authority, including: • Standards of Practice – Working with the PMSL and the Provincial Clinical Team, their RHA, Shared Health, facilities and other programs, supports the development and ensures consistent application, of standards of care for specific clinical services across regions. Works with Shared Health to develop provincial-level indicators that will provide measures related to goals of achieving these standards of care. Participates in the development of provincial/regional policies/guidelines. 3) Health Human Resources Takes an active role in efforts to recruit, retain, develop all medical staff active in the provision of emergency medicine services: • Health Human Resources Planning: In collaboration with the PMSL, Emergency Medicine participates in the development of overarching provincial strategies of recruitment, retention and distribution of emergency physicians; 4) Stakeholder Engagement Ensures appropriate physician engagement and facilitates the removal of barriers to support practice improvement. 5) Academic Mission Works with the health science institutions to achieve mutual goals as it relates to education of the health workforce and related academic/research activities, including: • Works collaboratively with the Max Rady College of Medicine and clinical sites in the ongoing identification, development and coordination of training. 6) Other As required 7) Committees Participates as a member on RHA/Shared Health committees: Original Job Posting ID#: Application Process: Last Refreshed: |
