The position offers a unique environment for medical science discoveries near nine teaching and research hospitals and Canada’s largest university.

The Division of Nephrology comprises fifteen highly collegial full-and part-time faculty committed to world-leading clinical care spanning the entire field of Pediatric Nephrology, including high volume dialysis/apheresis and transplant programs and high-impact clinical and basic research focused on childhood and rare kidney diseases, aligning with SickKids’ “Precision Child Health” initiative.

They should have substantial research experience, typically demonstrated through a PhD and/or postdoctoral training, along with a strong publication record, successful grant funding, and conference presentations. Preference will be given to candidates focused on rare kidney diseases. The successful applicant will also be expected to apply for a scientist-track role at the SickKids Research Institute and build an impactful research career within an equitable and inclusive environment.

The candidate’s responsibilities will involve teaching and mentoring students across the division, department, and university. The successful candidate should qualify for a cross-appointment with a University of Toronto graduate program to supervise graduate students directly. Strong collaboration with colleagues across the division, department, research institute, university, external partners, and the broader community is also expected.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate comprehensive clinical expertise in Pediatric Nephrology, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), renal replacement therapy, and kidney transplantation.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($275,000-$352,000) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.

All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent degree, and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications.
