Effective October 1, 2026, the Division of Haematology/Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant/Cellular Therapy (BMT/CT) Section, at the Hospital for Sick Children, (SickKids), Department of Paediatrics, 555 University Avenue. Toronto, ON which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children; a fully affiliated hospital within the University of Toronto is recruiting a permanent full-time Paediatric Haematology/ Oncologist.

The Blood and Marrow Transplant/Cellular Therapy program at SickKids is one of the largest and most active paediatric transplant and cellular therapy programs in North America. We are FACT-accredited with a 17-bed dedicated inpatient unit, performing approximately 120-130 transplants and cellular therapy procedures annually for children referred from across Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. Our clinical scope includes transplantation and cell-based therapies for the treatment of malignancies, immunodeficiencies, bone marrow failure syndromes, metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases and haemoglobinopathies.

The section currently comprises of six faculty members with a robust portfolio of gene therapy, cell therapy, and immune effector cell clinical trials, as well as active translational and basic research programs. The program is developing on-site cell- and gene therapy manufacturing capabilities and benefits from close collaboration with SickKids’ internationally recognized programs in immunology, haemoglobinopathy, metabolic disease, and oncology.

With rapidly expanding indications for cellular therapies including CAR-T, gene therapy, and gene editing, the successful candidate will not only contribute to our clinical excellence but help shape the strategic direction of the program over the next decade.

SickKids is home to Canada’s largest paediatric research institute, with more than 2,000 researchers, trainees, and staff. The BMT/CT section is embedded within this vibrant research community, with extensive opportunities for collaboration across the SickKids Research Institute, the University of Toronto, and affiliated networks. Significant philanthropic support is dedicated to advancing the program’s clinical and research mission.

The BMT/CT section operates a well-established clinical fellowship program that attracts trainees from Canada and around the world. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the education of the next generation of transplant and cellular therapy physicians, with a commitment to global capacity-building in the field.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic interprofessional care team. The successful candidate will provide care for patients in the BMT/CT section of the Division in the inpatient and ambulatory settings with responsibilities which include procedures and participation in out-of-hours clinical coverage. The successful candidate is expected to spend most of their time devoted to clinical service and to making important contributions to the clinical, research and teaching missions of the Division. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. Candidates at all career stages are encouraged to apply.

All candidates must be able to function proficiency in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary will be ($275,543-$350,000) per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
