The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) and the Department of Medical Imaging at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto are recruiting for a full-time academic Head and Neck Radiologist to join the newly established Division of Head and Neck Imaging, Canada’s first and only dedicated division of its kind. The anticipated start date is July 1st, 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in a growing, high-impact specialty within one of the largest and most academically active imaging departments in the country. The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) operates across the University Health Network Hospitals (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and West Park Healthcare Centre-Toronto), Sinai Health System, and Women’s College Hospital. This position is to be primarily based out of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (610 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) with responsibilities also to include other Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) locations in Toronto.

Established in October 2024, the Division of Head and Neck Imaging provides 24/7 diagnostic head and neck imaging coverage across multiple academic hospitals within Toronto, Ontario. We actively participate in numerous interdisciplinary clinical programs throughout the JDMI enterprise, including at the largest volume cancer centre in the country with >30 clinical colleagues in the Head and Neck Cancer Group. We offer robust educational training to residents and fellows and are actively expanding our clinical, educational, and research missions.

The successful candidate will:
• Provide expert interpretation of complex head and neck imaging, supporting a multidisciplinary cancer care model.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary clinical care, working alongside leading head and neck surgeons, oncologists, and radiation medicine teams.
• Actively contribute to research and scholarly activity, ideally through original publications and collaborative projects with radiation oncology and surgical teams.
• Be passionate about education, supervising and mentoring residents, fellows, and rotating trainees across specialties.
• Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, collegiality, and effective communication skills.
• Have the potential and interest to become a future leader in head and neck radiology at the local and national/international level.
• The academic position description will be assigned based on the candidate’s teaching or research strengths.

Required Qualifications:
• Hold a MD degree or equivalent and be board-certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology from the RCPSC, or an international organization that recognizes medical specialists.
• Eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
• Successful completion of at least one year of a dedicated Head and Neck Imaging fellowship training in a high-volume head and neck cancer center.
• Must be actively involved in head and neck research, with a proven track record of scholarly activity, such as conference presentations, peer-reviewed publications, or clinical audits.
• Strong clinical skills in interpreting complex CT and MRI studies of the head and neck, particularly in oncologic imaging.
• Demonstrated experience participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards (e.g., HN MCC, Thyroid MCC, OFMS, Orbit, Skull Base).
• Prior Canadian clinical experience is preferred, particularly in a tertiary academic or oncology setting.
• The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English.
• Interest in future leadership roles and contribution to succession planning within the division.
The successful applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform average salary of a Radiologist in the Province of Ontario in the range of $300,000 – $450,000 per annum (fee-for service billings) for a full-time position, with an opportunity for increased income commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The successful candidate is anticipated to join the Radiologist professional practice plan of the Department and will have the option of purchasing health and dental insurance through the group practice plan.
