The Department of Medicine and the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Sinai Health System and the University Health Network, in collaboration with the Department of Medicine and the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking to recruit a qualified full-time permanent academic geriatrician with an academic position description of a Clinician in Quality & Innovation or Clinician Teacher. The successful candidate would be hired through The Toronto Hospital Department of Medicine practice plan within the Sinai-UHN Medical Organization located at located at 600 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, M5G 1X5. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-Time Clinical Academic Appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The effective start date of the appointments is July 1, 2026, or a mutually agreeable date. This individual will provide exemplary patient-centred care and will be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto as appropriate. This position includes faculty whose primary academic interest is engaging in quality improvement, patient safety, knowledge translation (KT) or other forms of healthcare innovation (e.g., advancing health informatics, developing new models of care). Faculty members in this job description demonstrate their impact through the creative professional activity (CPA) framework defined by the University of Toronto. Approximately 65-75% of time will be spent in clinical care. Services include care delivery in an enhanced geriatric interdisciplinary team-based environment as described under Schedule of Benefits for OHIP specialty code 07 as well as clinical stabilization activities. This position will be based at 600 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, M5G 1X5 For applicants being considered for appointment as a Clinician Teacher, excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, teaching awards, pedagogical innovation and curriculum development. For Clinician in Quality and Innovation, excellence will be assessed by advanced training in quality improvement or equivalent, successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice and/or equipment innovations, and invitations to significant conferences, and accolades. The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario in Geriatric Medicine as well as have or be eligible for specialist geriatric medicine certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Estimated remuneration will be approximately $300,000 per annum, including fees for service, and will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
