Details: Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg, MB, CA R3A 1R9 The Max Rady College of Medicine and Shared Health are seeking an individual to provide outstanding leadership for the position of Head of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Manitoba and Provincial Specialty Lead, Mental Health and Addictions, Shared Health commensurate with qualifications and experience for a five-year term commencing July 1, 2026 or as soon thereafter as possible. The opportunity presents the challenge of overseeing a department based on solid foundation of the discipline and innovation models of teaching and research collaboration and clinical care across the province. The successful applicant will be, or expected to become a Geographical Full-Time (GFT) clinical faculty member with an academic rank. A stipend will be provided for the duration of the appointment. The Candidate should have a substantial record of achievement in psychiatry and experience in teaching, research, clinical practice, administration, and leadership ability appropriate for the scope and challenge of this senior position. Shared Health is a Provincial organization responsible for planning, quality, patient safety, standards and innovation while ensuring a sustainable cost effective health care system. The successful candidate will be the lead advisor and coordinator of operations within Shared Health on all aspects of psychiatric care in the Province. The Mental Health Program/Department of Psychiatry consists of several hospital and community based services across the province with many subprograms including Adult General Psychiatry, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Forensic Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Day Hospital Programs, Schizophrenia, Consult Liaison, Addictions, Emergency Psychiatry, PACT and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition to residency training, the Department is responsible for the delivery of undergraduate and interprofessional post graduate learner teaching across the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba. The Department of Psychiatry has a multidisciplinary research group with research interests which are varied and range from psychiatric epidemiology to neuroimaging. Common research interests in the department include Indigenous and adolescent suicidality, depression, panic disorder, PTSD, social anxiety, and palliative care and dignity research. Many projects have received financial support through government grants or via private industry. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is required.
