The Department of Psychiatry at the Hospital for Sick Children is seeking to recruit full-time academic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist(s) to provide expert psychiatric assessment/consultation and ongoing care to children and youth with major psychiatric disorders. Duties include psychiatric assessment, consultation and follow-up of outpatients and inpatients, participation of overnight and weekend on-call duties, as well teaching and supervision of medical students, psychiatry and/or pediatric residents, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) residents and fellows across disciplines. Strong prior experience in the care of young children and youth with various major psychiatric conditions and their families and caregivers is required. In addition to outpatient work, the individual will provide on-service support to either our consultation liaison service or eating disorders program. It is expected for the applicant to have some demonstrated experience and desire to develop career goals in academic/scholarly work in one of the areas of teaching/education, creative professional activities, quality improvement or research.

Applicants must possess a MD Degree (or equivalent) and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The position requires an individual who has a sub-specialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or equivalent). Candidates must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto, at the level of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and have an academic position description, for example, Clinical Teacher/Educator, or Clinical Researcher/Investigator. English language proficiency is required. This is a full-time (0.8 to 1.0 full-time equivalent) position and remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the province of Ontario. This position is located at the main SickKids’ hospital site located at 555 University Avenue and the institution’s surrounding campuses.
