Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and The Toronto Hospital Department of Medicine within the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health (SH) is seeking a full-time Academic Neurologists with interest in surgical/DBS (deep brain stimulation) and advanced therapies for the Movement Disorders Clinic at the Krembil Brain Institute, UHN. The location of practice is Toronto Western Hospital, 399 Bathurst Street, Toronto, ON M5T 2S8. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as a Clinician Investigator or Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, be certified (or eligible for certification) in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). He/she must have both additional training with a Clinical Fellowship in Movement Disorders and DBS/Advanced therapies or equivalent and a Master’s degree or equivalent. He/she must have established expertise focusing on the comprehensive management of patients with Movement Disorders including Parkinson/s disease, dystonia, essential tremor and atypical parkinsonian syndromes and experience in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and advance device based therapies with expertise in perioperative management, programming and long-term multidisciplinary care. Advanced training and/or substantial clinical experience in both surgical/DBS and neurological disorders is required for this position. The successful applicant is expected to build a clinical and research program focusing on surgical and advanced therapies for movement disorders with ongoing academic contributions in DBS outcomes research, epidemiology of movement disorders and non-motor features of Parkinson’s disease and participation in international collaborative studies and contribution to peer-reviewed publications in movement disorders and DBS. Teaching duties will include direct supervision and teaching of medical students, neurology residents and clinical fellows with a strong emphasis on subspecialty training in movement disorders; DBS and continuing medical education and provide support for teaching in movement disorders and mentorship of trainees in both clinical and academic capacities. Academic appointment will be in the Division of Neurology, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto at Assistant Professor or higher. The effective start date is January 2026 or a mutually agreed date. Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
