The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is accepting applications for Regional Medical Lead, Extended Hours Primary Care Clinics (EHPCC).
The Regional Medical Lead (RML), Extended Hours Primary Care Clinic (EHPCC) reports to the Winnipeg Regional Medical Specialty Lead – Community Family Medicine & Primary Care.
The RML, EHPCC shall assist the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Regional Lead, Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer (CMO), as appropriate, in carrying out the CMO’s responsibilities as set out in the WRHA’s Medical Staff Bylaws and monitoring adherence. The RML, EHPCC works closely with site administration, community, site medical leadership and Medical Staff to create a patient-focused and efficient primary health care system.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The RML, EHPCC is responsible for:
• Ensuring models and standards of care are communicated to all medical staff in any EHPCC site at which the Regional Lead oversees.
• Responsible for strategic medical management activities which contributes to the performance of the EHPCCs and promotes high quality patient care.
• Oversight and participation in the EHPCC’s services in Winnipeg, MB.
• Provide advice on medical and clinical matters to the Regional and the Authority’s medical leadership, and other members of the Authority’s leadership team.
• Participate in leadership and management meetings, as required.
• Promote and foster a supportive, transparent, and collaborative culture within the EHPCCs.
• Actively support and demonstrate the Authority’s mission, vision, and values.
• Provide leadership and direction to Medical staff and EHPCC team staff at the EHPCCs in the WRHA.
• Ensure Medical Staff are aware of and comply with the Authority’s Medical Staff By-Laws, Rules, and Regulations.
• Actively promote and monitor quality and safety measures of medical care provided by Medical Staff to patients and clients of the EHPCCs.
• Promote an environment where research is actively pursues and supported, as required.
• Oversee the educational component for undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees, physician assistant trainees, nurse practitioner trainees, and other trainees, as required.
• Collaborate and partner with site, community, regional, and provincial leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of program and services related to the EHPCC and Community Family Medicine & Primary Care.
• Collaborate with Site, Regional and Provincial Medical Specialty Leads in the recruitment, retention, and evaluation of Medical Staff at the EHPCCs.
• Act as a liaison between WRHA Medical Advisory Committee and leadership and Medical Staff teams and the EHPCCs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Winnipeg Regional Medical Specialty Lead – Community Family Medicine & Primary Care.

Qualifications:
• A medical practitioner qualified to practice Family Medicine in the Province of Manitoba and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
• Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (such as CCFP)
• Obtains and maintains a Medical Staff appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills inclusive of coaching/mentoring and performance management skills, in a health services delivery organization. Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to enhancing leadership/management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and harmoniously with all members of the health care team and external partners and agencies.
• Understanding of current evidence-based trends in Community Family Medicine & Primary Care related health care nationally and provincially.
• Possesses a sound vision of a reformed health care system and an ability to promote teamwork within a rapidly changing environment.
• Formal training in healthcare administration and process improvement are assets.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in management and leadership in medical and healthcare administration is preferred.
