Job Duties:
• Diagnose and manage a broad array of medical conditions before, during, and after surgery.
• Perform operations to treat or prevent diseases, repair injuries, and improve body functions using surgical instruments.
• Assess patients, explain diagnostic tests, and maintain medical records.
• Supervise the operating room and other medical professionals.

Terms of Employment: Full-time, (12 months)

Wage and Benefits:
Fee for service in accordance with the Tariff of Fees of the Master Agreement between the Medical Society of Prince Edward Island, the Government of Prince Edward Island and Health PEI
OR
Contract hourly rate of $165.57 per hour as per the Master Agreement between the Medical Society of Prince Edward Island, the Government of Prince Edward Island and Health PEI
OR
Daily rate of $1,500 for all medical services provided during daytime hours, Monday to Friday or $2,000 for each 24-hour period (daytime with overnight on-call coverage), as outlined in the attached payment agreement.

Hours of Work
7.5 hours per day. 37.5 hours per week

Education Requirements:
• Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI;
• Eligibility for appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging; and
• FRCP, CFPC (EM), experience preferred.

Health Care Workers are required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per Health PEI’s COVID-19 Immunization and Management Policy. If a new hire is unable to be vaccinated as a result of a medical exemption, they will be required to submit supporting documentation to Employee Health / Wellness and Safety.

Work Experience:
Minimum one year of experience in the same field.

Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following: • Coverage of accommodations during the length of the locum stay on Prince Edward Island, up to a maximum of $300 per night or $200 without receipts. • $100 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period. • Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered. • Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare. • Coverage of car rental up to $1400 per week with receipts.

Long Term Locums – working at least 10 days a month for no less than 6 months with a defined start and end date

• Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee costs with Physicians Apply;
• Reimbursement of cost of license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
• Coverage of dues with Medical Society of PEI.

Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following: • Accommodations: 10 + days coverage per month – _up to $5000 per month with receipts or $3000 per month without receipts. • $50 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period. • Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered. • Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000 with receipts. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare. • Coverage of car rental up to $1400 per week with receipts.
