Horizon Health Network’s, Miramichi Regional Hospital in Miramichi, NB is recruiting a full-time Psychiatrist. The incumbent has extensive clinical autonomy in General Psychiatry for patients of all ages. He or she provides inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-ups, and acts as a consultant to other physicians.

Members of the department of Psychiatry are encouraged to be part of the teaching program affiliated with Dalhousie University Medical School and Memorial University Medical School postgraduate program and teaching in the undergraduate program at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Information regarding faculty appointments is available upon request. Physicians are also encouraged to be part of the research program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assessment and treatment of patients presenting to the psychiatry department.
• Participate in the provision of clinical services including, the assessment, treatment and follow up of patients admitted to the Department.
• Provide consultation services in conjunction with the other members of the department for both inpatients and outpatients.
• Share on-call duties with members of his/her respective department at the direction of the Chief of Psychiatry.
• Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate.
• Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.
• Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.
• Participate in teaching of medical students and residents.
• Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Medical Director, the Chief of Staff, or the Chief of Psychiatry.

Qualifications:
• Must be eligible for license to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick.
• Must be eligible for membership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
• Must be eligible for malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or equivalent, appropriate to the category of practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Good attendance and work record.
• Physically able to perform assigned duties.
