The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is accepting applications for the position of Medical Specialty Lead (RMSL) for Personal Care Homes (PCH) and PCH Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). The Medical Specialty Lead (RMSL) PCH/IPC reports to the Medical Lead – Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer and will be appointed in consultation with the Shared Health Provincial Medical Specialty Lead (PMSL).

The RMSL-PCH/IPC shall assist the Lead-Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer as appropriate in carrying out the Lead-Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer’s responsibilities as set out in the Provincial Medical Staff By-Laws as it relates to medical oversight for the PCHs. The RMSL-PCH/IPC is responsible for ensuring models and standards of care are communicated to all medical staff involved with PCH Medicine across the region, and monitoring adherence, including supporting the implementation of a standardized provincial IPC program for PCHs across all licensed PCHs in the region. He/she works closely with site administration, site medical leadership and the Medical staff to create a harmonious, resident-focused, health-care system for the community. He/she also works closely with the SDO’s Lead PCH Infection Prevention and Control to support an integrated Infection Prevention and Control program for PCH for the region, while standardizing IPC practices with provincial medical and IPC leadership and ensuring compliance. The RMSL-PCH is recognized as a member of the Medical Leadership Team and will be actively involved in the development of regional medical and strategic planning (incl. financial management).
The RMSL-PCH/IPC shall be a member of the Provincial Clinical Team Network of PCH Medical Leads, representing the SDO. Along with the Provincial Specialty Lead – PCH and the provincial clinical team network, will be responsible to manage the medical staff duties and responsibilities, as well as assist in developing PCH strategic plans and operationalizing the plans in a provincially coordinated and integrated fashion.

Qualifications:

A medical practitioner, qualified to practice Medicine in the Province of Manitoba and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. A member of the active Medical Staff of a Service Delivery Organization (SDO). Certified or specialized in care of the Elderly. Understanding of Infection & Prevention Control measures and willingness to participate in ongoing IPAC courses or to attain certification in Infection Control Strong communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and management skills inclusive of coaching/mentoring and performance management skills, in a health services delivery organization. Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to enhancing leadership/management skills. Administrative/Leadership credentials (experience, certification as a Physician Leader) Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and harmoniously with all members of the health care team and external partners and agencies. Understanding of current evidenced-based trends in PCH. Possesses a sound vision of a reformed health care system and an ability to promote teamwork within a rapidly changing environment. Evidence of a high understanding and evidence of Emotional Intelligence.

Compensation:

This position is expected to be the equivalent of 0.3 FTE with flexible hours. Exact amount of payment to be determined.
Standard term of 12 months for first appointment with offer of renewal to be determined by the Lead-Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer.
