The Medical Oncologist will provide consultation, management and follow up services for a broad range of malignancies including lymphoma through the Regional Oncology Service of River Valley Health. The Medical Oncologist will contribute to the continuing development and medical direction of the regional cancer care program. Return calls of other physicians (family physician, surgeons, out of province physicians etc) Participate in various Oncology Service related committees and advisory board meetings, including the Regional Cancer Care Committee, Oncology Systemic Therapy Committee and Oncology Rounds as well as appropriate provincial Oncology Service committees Oncology Service In the context of the provision of oncology outpatient services, the Medical Oncologist will: In the context of inpatient care, the Medical Oncologist will see inpatients in consultation and follow-up and provide directive care for cancer patients admitted to their family doctor with complications related to the care of their cancer Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Vice President – Medical Affairs and/or the Chief of Medical Specialties Note: These responsibilities are the basic and prime duties associated with this position; other related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may be necessary to the operation of River Valley Health. |

Qualification Requirements

Education |
Medical Degree and Continued Education in Medical Oncology
Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice |
Experience |
Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
Good attendance and work record Physically able to perform assigned duties |
Certifications |
Certification in medical oncology
Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick |
