The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, are seeking to recruit a Senior Scientist and nuclear medicine physician to support the Brain Health Imaging Centre and to build a program of research.
The intent of this role is to enhance scientific pursuits and clinical application in the area of molecular imaging and associated therapy, and to ensure that research in this area is translated from the bench to the bedside. Expanding our existing program is critical to augment clinical research in non-invasive molecular imaging and associated therapy as well as applying this to patient care pertaining to all facets of brain health. The primary roles include:
• Serving as Qualified Investigator for clinical research PET studies.
• Serve as the physician responsible for CT and human imaging.
• Providing clinical leadership and oversite in radiology and/or nuclear medicine.
• Augmenting engineering applications in medical imaging.
• Supporting Radiation Safety Committee, and Class II RSO, to ensure compliant practices in research and clinical practice.
• Developing a high-profile research program with a bench to bedside focus on neuroimaging in MRI and PET.
• Attracting world-class scientists, clinicians, graduate students and trainees to the program.
• Building strong collaborations locally, nationally and internationally.
• Providing leadership for current and future national and international initiatives including clinical trials and participation in pharmaceutical and other regulatory audits.
• Promoting the commercialization of discoveries and help consider to set up clinical PET, CT and MRI.
• Ensuring knowledge translation of research findings where appropriate.

The candidate for this position must be known nationally/ internationally and respected as scientist with a proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and research funding from agencies and/or industry. As a Senior Scientist, the successful candidate will be required to maintain local, national, and international collaborations, provide practical supervision of undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral research trainees, and technical staff. Demonstrated expertise in molecular imaging with translation of innovations to patient care and commercialization is important. Skills to effectively communicate with the scientific community as well as the lay public to further the aims and objectives of the research area is key. Participation in leadership advisory groups at CAMH and externally is expected. The candidate must possess an MD in radiology and/or nuclear medicine. A PhD and additional training in engineering, physics or related discipline relevant to medical imaging would be an asset. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.
