Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), the University of Manitoba, and Department of Otolaryngology (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Head and Neck Surgeon to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include diagnose, treatment and surgery of conditions affecting ears, nose and throat, prescribing medications, ordering lab tests and x-rays and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 60% of the position.

The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 40% of the position. Job duties are required in English.

The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibilities and requires individuals with clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and tertiary care medicine.

The position will be located primarily at Health Science Centre and CancerCare Manitoba, with secondary responsibility at other sites within the Region including St. Boniface General Hospital, and Victoria General Hospital.

The Program incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. The Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg provides comprehensive Otolaryngology care to a population base of over 1.2 million people from Manitoba, Nunavut and Northwestern Ontario.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and/or General Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

Applicants will have fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology (or equivalent). Although the focus of this position is head and neck surgical oncology, the successful applicant must have the skills to provide Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery call as part of a team covering the largest tertiary care hospital in the province. Additional skills including advanced degrees would be beneficial; a commitment to education, research and/or other academic pursuits is required.

Compensation:
Compensation is as per Doctors Manitoba agreement.
