Comprehensive Compensation: Benefit from a robust compensation package that values your contribution. Remuneration as a Family Physician ranges from $113.51 - $121.44 per hour (depending on years of practice). Locum physicians providing 6 months or more of services, are eligible for the Blended Payment which is 31% of your shadow billings; the shadow billings payment is paid quarterly. Rural Family Medicine Opportunities: Community Hospital O’Leary and Souris Hospital: Physicians providing hospital-based services (in-patient rounding), on-call and clinic-based services for the afternoon are eligible for a daily family medicine rate. Full day – Rounding AM, Clinic PM, 24hr on-call $1,900 (inclusive of on-call retainer) Half day – Rounding only + 24hr on-call $1,400 for in-patient rounds (inclusive of on-call retainer) On Call only – FFS The daily rate is inclusive of on-call retainer. |

Incentives:
Short-Term Locum (1-10 days worked per month) Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee Reimbursement of the cost of locum license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI. Coverage of registration fees with the Medical Society of PEI. Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following: Coverage of accommodation during the length of the locum stay on Prince Edward Island, up to a maximum of $300 per night with receipts or $200 per night without receipts. $100 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period. Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered. Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare. Coverage of car rental up to $1400 per week with receipts. Long-Term Locums (Working at least 10 days a month for no less than 6 months with a defined start and end date) Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee costs with Physicians Apply; Reimbursement of cost of license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI. Coverage of dues with Medical Society of PEI. Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following: Accommodations: 10 + days coverage per month – up to $5000 per month with receipts or $3000 per month without receipts. $50 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period. Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered. Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000 with receipts. Education |
MCCQE Part I and MCCQE Part II (LMCC);
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI (link is external); Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA); Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging; CFPC physicians will be given priority; and Work experience preferable. Starting May 1, 2023, physicians whose primary practice is in Atlantic Canada (and hold a general registration in either PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador) may be eligible to obtain registration to practice in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces via the Atlantic Registry. Health Care Workers are required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per Health PEI’s Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy.
