Health PEI’s Provincial Department of Medicine is seeking a full time General Neurologist to join the healthcare team for Prince Edward Island. As a Neurologist on PEI, the physician will be joining two Neurology colleagues providing outpatient consultative and other neurology services for Islanders. The physician will be required to participate in daytime on-call services (weekdays only). On call duties involve accepting consultation requests across the province by phone and seeing inpatient consultations at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). Call hours are typically 8-5, Monday-Friday. There is no neurology inpatient service. Full-time hours for a salaried physician is defined as 37.5 hours per week.
Full-time contract-for-service hours is based on a maximum of 1,725 hours per year. Salary Pay Model Includes: Hourly Rate: Hourly rate + 31% of approved shadow billings. Hours: up to 37.5 hours/week, 1950 hours/year. *prorated for part-time. Vacation: 4-6 weeks/year depending on experience. *prorated for part-time. Sick: 11.25 hours/month for each continuous month of service. CME: Up to 75 hours per year and $7000 per year (for 0.6 FTE or higher). RRSP Contributions: Yes. Group Insurance Benefits: Yes. Administrative support with no overhead costs Contract for Services includes: Hourly Rate: Hourly rate + 31% of approved shadow billings. Hours: up to 1725 per year – can be divided by physicians as they like. Vacation: Unpaid – Physician directed. Sick: Unpaid – Physician directed. CME: Funding available through MSPEI. Qualification Requirements

Education |
FRCPC or eligibility for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification;
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island; Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging; Be involved in development and implementation of standards and policies; and Ability to drive and travel the island to various locations. Atlantic Registry As of May 1, 2023, physicians whose primary practice is in Atlantic Canada (and hold a general registration in either PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador) may be eligible to obtain registration to practice in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces via the Atlantic Registry.
