Paediatric General & Thoracic Surgeon (Liver Transplant) The Division of General and Thoracic Surgery, within the Department of Surgery, at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the Liver Transplant Program at the University Health Network/Ajmera Transplant Centre, at the University of Toronto are inviting applications for a permanent full-time faculty position, for a liver transplant surgeon with a focus on pediatric liver transplantation and pediatric HPB surgery. The effective date of the appointment is flexible, tentatively aiming for Spring of 2025. Additional Description The Division of General and Thoracic Surgery, at SickKids, is internationally recognized for its contributions to advancing clinical care in academic medicine. This is an exciting time for the Division and the Hospital under Division Head, Dr. Kasper Wang, who has reshaped the team in his vision since his arrival in December 2022. The successful candidates can anticipate protected time to pursue their academic goals. Applicants must have excellent clinical and surgical care skills for the vast and complex paediatric surgical disorders that present to SickKids. Advanced experience in pediatric liver transplantation and HPB surgery will be considered as an asset. Applicants must also be committed to being fully participating members of high functioning interdisciplinary teams. The Liver Transplant program at the University Health Network (UHN) is one of the largest liver transplant programs in North America, internationally recognized for its innovation and excellence in living liver donation, transplant oncology, and organ resuscitation. The candidate is expected to function as an important clinical and research member of the internationally renowned, multidisciplinary Pediatric Liver Transplant team. Additionally, the successful candidate will be part of the deceased donor liver transplant program at the University Health Network/Ajmera Transplant Centre. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage multidisciplinary, clinical, and basic science facilities that are available on the Hospital campus, including the 21-story Research Institute, and the University of Toronto’s Department of Surgery. Commensurate with qualifications and experience, base remuneration will be in the range of $400,000 to $500,000 CAD per year for 35 hours of work per week plus on call responsibilities to which will be added an equal distribution of billing overages. Support for relocation expenses will be offered.
