Horizon Health Network in Saint John (zone 2) is seeking full-time Hospitalists. The successful candidates will provide comprehensive inpatient care to family medicine patients while sharing equitable evening and weekend call responsibilities with the team of hospitalists. Experience in hospital-based medicine would be an asset but is not required. The Physicians will provide medical care to hospitalized patients in a multidisciplinary health care environment. Comprehensive plan of care including optimizing admission orders, ordering treatment and investigative modalities, and discharge planning are part of the day-to-day work. You would be joining a vibrant collegial team who love the work they do, and although your workday will consist of independent management of your patient list, the team is supportive of one another with challenging cases and interesting medicine. The hospitalist will be responsible for providing inpatient care for unattached patients and patients of the hospitalist group admitted to the Saint John Regional Hospital or transferred from specialty services or from other community hospitals for appropriate family medicine care. |

• Adhere to call responsibilities as defined by the hospitalist schedule. On-call response time is ten (10) minutes to answer your pager and be accessible to attend at the bedside within thirty (30) minutes, unless alternative arrangements are defined by the Department Rules.

• Must hold a valid license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
• Must be a member in good standing with the College of Family Physicians of Canada, with certification or actively pursuing certification. • Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice. • ACLS preferred. • Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset. • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills. • Good attendance and work record. • Physically able to perform assigned duties. • Comply and keep up to date with CFPC CME annual requirements. • Comply with the policies and procedures of the Department of Family Practice and the Hospitalist program. • Comply with the provisions of the Hospital Act, the Regional Health Authorities Act, the Medical Services Payment Act, and their regulations. • Comply with the Health Authority bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures. • Follow the Code of Ethics of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick • Your detailed CV must be attached to your application to be considered for any position. |

Horizon’s Saint John Regional Hospital is the largest tertiary care hospital in New Brunswick and is the primary health care referral centre for this area and to all New Brunswickers for major trauma and cardiac care.
The New Brunswick Trauma Program, New Brunswick Heart Centre, and the New Brunswick Stem Cell Transplant Centre are located within the hospital, as are Radiation Oncology and Nephrology services. This site offers autologous stem cell therapy and a stem cell processing laboratory. The Saint John Regional Hospital also serves as the centre for Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick’s distributed medical education program. The hospital services a catchment population of 170,000 people. |
