The Department of Medical Imaging, at The Ottawa Hospital is one of five departments or divisions and three hospital groups contributing to the academic mission of the Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics, within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. The Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics comprises 58 Radiologists, 22 Radiation Oncologists, 18 Medical Physicists, 5 scientists (with skills in virtual reality, imaging processing and artificial intelligence), 1 educationalist, 47 residents, and 30 fellows. The Department has an established record of recognized excellence in postgraduate, graduate, and undergraduate Medical Imaging education. The Department oversees a Preclinical Imaging Core equipped with 7T MRI, IVIS, Ultrasound, and PET-CT facilitating basic science research. The affiliated Ottawa Hospital Research Institute provides world-class research support and opportunities for collaborative translational Medical Imaging research.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is seeking a fellowship-trained Diagnostic Neuroradiologist for a full-time position to join the Neuroradiology Imaging Section of a department of approximately 60 sub-specialty radiologists. The candidates will serve the three campuses of The Ottawa Hospital, the core adult teaching hospital for the University of Ottawa, as well as affiliated community hospitals.

Clinical Duties:
Examine and diagnose disorders and diseases. Treat patients as required.
Work collaboratively as part of a highly efficient team for providing dedicated diagnostic neuroradiological expertise supporting strong programs in Neuroradiology.
The candidate will require broad Neuroradiology skills in all relevant modalities, including CT (320-slice and dual energy), MRI (1.5, 3T) and carotid Doppler.

The candidate should also excel at various spine procedures including vertebroplasty, rhizotomy, and spinal biopsies. Interpretation of advanced MRI Imaging techniques including perfusion, spectroscopy, DTI would also be expected

The successful candidate will provide consultation for the full spectrum of Neurologic diseases, trauma, acute stroke, neuro-oncology and Head and Neck radiology.

Supportive team player, with a strong commitment to patient care, quality improvement, research and teaching.
Work daytime shifts, evening shifts and on-call assignments including weekends.
Academic Duties:
Management and administrative duties as required with the practice of medicine and consistent with standards of practice established by the OHRIA, The University of Ottawa, Ontario Ministry of Health of Long-Term Care – MOHLTC and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario – CPSO.
Report to the Chair, Department of Radiology, University of Ottawa
Report to the Head, Department of Medical Imaging, The Ottawa Hospital.
Attend at corporate and physician training sessions and faculty orientation.
Maintain an active academic portfolio.
Engage in scholarly activities.
Contribute to the education and research mission of The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa
Teach one or more university subjects to undergraduate and graduate students.
Prepare and deliver lectures to students and conduct laboratory sessions or discussion groups.
Prepare, administer and grade examinations, laboratory assignments and reports.
Conduct research in field of specialization and publish findings in scholarly journals or books.
May serve on faculty committees dealing with such matters as curriculum planning and degree requirements and perform a variety of administrative duties.
May represent their universities as speakers and guest lecturers.
Education: Doctor of Medicine degree. Fellowship training. The successful candidate will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent or such other certification deemed acceptable.
Experience:
Four to five years of specialty residency training are required.
Minimum of two year of subspecialty training.
Fellowship training.
Two years of employment experience post-residency. A broad neuroradiology skills in all relevant modalities, including CT (320-slice and dual energy), MRI (1.5, 3T) and carotid Doppler.
Experience and interest in scholarly activity and research are also considered strong assets.
Administrative and leadership experience are strong assets.

License: Member in good standing with College of Physician and Services of Ontario (CPSO) or immediate eligibility or Restricted Academic Practice Certificate for Assistant Professors (also known as “Academic License”) by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO);
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time.
Hours of work: 45+ hour per week. Days, evenings, overnights, weekends, On-call.
Languages of work: English, French an assent.
Wages: $400,000 annually.
Under terms of partnership agreement, all professional revenues are pooled and are used in part to fund stipends for research, education, administrative activities and other forms of leave and compensate for clinical activities.
Mandatory participation in the Ottawa Hospital Alternative Funding Plan (AFP) with Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, The Ottawa Hospital Physicians Association, the Ottawa Hospital Academic Medical Organization, The Ottawa Hospital, The University of Ottawa, and the Ontario Medical Association.
Participation in cost-sharing agreement and management fee agreements required.
