1.0 EFT Permanent Full Time Family Physician Position-– Tri-Lake Health Centre and Killarney Medical Clinic

Prairie Mountain Health is looking for a Family Physician to share a practice with experienced rural physicians.

Tri-Lake Health Centre is a 26-bed acute care facility and provides care to a 60-bed long term care facility. Services offered to the facility are Diagnostic Services, Emergency, Public Health, Mental Health, and Home Care Services. Duties to include: performing all duties associated with a family practice, including diagnosing and treating diseases, physiological disorders and injuries of patients, act as the primary care provider and provide continuous care toward the management of patients’ health at the Tri-Lake Health Centre and at the Killarney Medical Clinic located in the Tri-Lake Health Centre. The physician will also share in the Emergency department on call schedule and will cooperate and coordinate coverage with other physician colleagues. The on-call schedule is typically 1:4.

Sitting on the shores of beautiful Killarney Lake, the Municipality of Killarney—Turtle Mountain is a thriving population of around 3600 people. Killarney is located at the junction of Highway 3 and 18; just 1 hour from the City of Brandon and 3 hours from the City of Winnipeg.

Killarney Lake is the heart of the community and is the focus for many of the activities throughout the year. Located at the edge of town, it is a popular resort attracting vacationers to cottages and campgrounds every summer.

ABOUT PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH:

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) provides a full spectrum of healthcare services to all of southwestern Manitoba. Officially formed in June 2012, PMH is one of five regional health authorities in the province. The PMH region covers approximately 67,000 square kilometres and serves over 167,000 residents including 14 First National Band communities, 15 Northern Affairs community councils and 30 Hutterite colonies/communities. Within the PMH region there are 20 acute care sites, 43 long term care sites, 9 transitional care sites, 6 primary health care centres and one orthopedic rehabilitation centre.

Qualifications:

Must be eligible for licensure with the College of physicians and surgeons of Manitoba Medical degree Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba Prior to starting practice, required to obtain medicolegal insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association or with another carrier at your expense Must provide Criminal record check, Child and Adult abuse check prior to starting practice A signed 4-year Return of Service Agreement is required Language of work: English

Compensation:

Gross annual income of $353,422 for full time hours (as per the 2023 rate in the Rural Independent Contractor agreement between Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Healthy Living and Seniors). Rates are adjusted annually based on agreement between Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Healthy Living and Seniors.

Full time hours consist of 8 hours a day, 218 days a year, based on $202.65 per hour (2023 rate). Annual income will be prorated if working less than 8 hours a day. A full-time physician would provide 1744 hours of clinic service. Usual clinic hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Eligible to bill fee-for-service outside of clinic hours while on-call for Emergency Department and Acute in patients, and after-hours work. On-call stipends are paid separately from the gross annual income, and is based on the Doctors Manitoba negotiated rates for that year. For 24-hour off site on-call, the current rate is $991.90 weekdays, and $1,554.94 weekends and holidays.
