PRHC is seeking an exceptional clinician who can provide
visionary and collaborative leadership of the Department of
Anesthesia. This is an excellent leadership opportunity with

play a key role in leading the delivery of anesthesia services
that support our patients, community, and region.

Position Qualifications

• Currently registered and hold an independent practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• Eligible for Active or Associate staff privileges at PRHC
• Leadership experience preferred
• High level of clinical expertise as an Anesthetist
• Evidence of ongoing continued clinical and leadership education Skills and Abilities.

• Demonstrated interest in top tier clinical service, rounds and educational activities.

Chief Position Highlights

Quality of Care and Clinical Performance – Monitors and maintains professional practice and ensures the highest quality and standards of care are consistently delivered by all in the Department.
Reviews adverse events and patient complaints involving professional staff and provides oversight for follow-up on recommendations.
Leads the identification of clinical care risks and risk mitigation.
Collaborates with the Medical and Administrative Director(s) to establish quality improvement objectives and targets and supports the implementation of improvement initiatives.
Support the ongoing use of Epic, including the impact on perioperative care and patient safety in the OR.

Credentials/ Appointment/ Performance- Makes recommendation to MAC regarding appointments and disciplinary actions.
Conducts performance evaluations for members of the Department.
Maintains standards of behaviour and conduct and deals with issues of incivility in a timely and effective manner.

Engagement Communication- Serves as a liaison between Department members and other Departments, and Health Centre medical and administrative leadership.
Is a champion and advocate for perioperative safety.
Communicates regularly with Department members and engages them in priority- setting and problem-solving.
Is a champion and advocate for patient and family centered care.

Human Resources- Leads the recruitment and orientation of new members to the department.

Planning and Strategy- Supports the Medical Director of Surgical Services Program in their role including but not limited to, strategic planning and resource utilization.

Appointed By- Search committee chaired by a member of the Board of Directors.

Reporting Structure-Reports to the Chief of Staff through to the Board.

Contract length- Initial term of five years. Opportunity for reappointment for additional terms based on a review process.
