Assistant or Associate Professor – Academic Surgeon The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), is inviting applications for an Academic Surgeon with a focus on pediatric hand, peripheral nerve, and microsurgery. This appointment is for a permanent full-time faculty position in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The effective start date is to be decided upon candidate availability. Primary Description The candidate will work within the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and participate in the care of pediatric patients with hand trauma, congenital hand conditions, facial nerve palsy, peripheral nerve injuries, and microsurgical cases, in addition to providing general care to the pediatric plastic surgery patient population. Other clinical duties include participation in the Plastic Surgery call schedule at SickKids. Additional Description The candidate must hold an MD and advanced subspecialty training in pediatric plastic surgery and/or hand and microsurgery and must be able to function proficiently in English. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. The successful candidate would be appointed as a Surgeon-Investigator, with 30% of time devoted to research activities. A Master’s degree or PhD is required for this role. The candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates must obtain an appropriate Visa, if applicable. The candidate is expected to participate in medical student, resident, and fellow education. Commensurate with qualifications and experience, salary will be in the range of $386,000 – $515,000 CAD per year for 35 hours of work per week plus on call responsibilities.
