The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is currently recruiting for the position of Chief, Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (DPLM). This role requires an academic paediatric laboratory medicine physician with proven leadership expertise combined with the ability to lead transformative change and foster innovation. The Chief of DPLM reports to the Chief Medical Officer for the clinical, research, education and administrative activities of DPLM in support of the mission and strategic directions of SickKids. The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized leader, scholar and respected clinician. The successful candidate must have the leadership qualities and management skills necessary to direct a large department, while fostering an environment of academic and clinical excellence. They will have the ability to take the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine to a new level of international recognition and academic achievement. The successful candidate must: Estimated remuneration will be in a range of $400,000 – $450,000 per annum and will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, pension plan and which may include a relocation package. This is a full-time permanent role. About SickKids and DPLM The Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) is dedicated to improving and enhancing patient care and the health of children and is a major paediatric diagnostic and reference centre, performing routine and specialized diagnostic testing in support of the full range of paediatric clinical specialties. DPLM is a critical bridge between basic discoveries and implementation of new diagnostic tests for young children. DPLM is a world-class facility operating at the forefront of reducing the impact of childhood illness by quickly establishing diagnoses that lead to early selection of the best treatment options. DPLM is a valuable and integral component of the SickKids team generating original research and providing timely specialized diagnostic services including pathology, biochemistry, microbiology and genetics.
