Selkirk Regional Health Centre Selkirk, CA

:The Region is seeking qualified physicians to provide care in the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Department, with remuneration based on the provincial Tertiary and General Hospital ER Agreement. A list of the required qualifications and certifications is attached.

FTEs of 0.3 – 0.5 will be offered with a total of 1.2 FTE available. Shifts are of varying length, over a six week period. A commitment to work days, afternoons, evenings and nights is required; a probationary period will apply. A contract committing the region to this provision of shifts will be provided.

Preference will be given to applicants who meet any of the following criteria:

1. Maintain a family practice in the region a minimum of 2 days per week and provide at least an equal number of 24-hour shifts in the local ED rotation (physicians not practicing in Selkirk); OR

2. Provide 24-hr ED coverage in the region 4 days per month, with two of these 24-hour shifts in either Ashern or Pine Falls; OR

3. Provide service to the region on a regularly scheduled basis as a Hospitalist, in Anesthesia, or in other areas of specialized care.

Physicians who do not hold a FRCPC-EM or CCFP-EM designation, would need to provide a minimum of 400 hours of ED coverage in the region’s Basic A & B on-call sites to allow their skills and competencies to be evaluated.
