The Hospital for Sick Children, Department of Paediatrics, Temerity Faculty of Medicine, Join our team and be part of our bold new strategy for Precision Child Health to usher in a new generation of discovery, prevention, and treatment for children worldwide. Effective immediately the Department of Paediatrics, Temerity Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Immunology and Allergy at The Hospital for Sick Children, an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is recruiting a full-time permanent paediatric allergist/immunologist leader to join a diverse clinical team excelling in clinical and translational research to help us achieve our future vision outlined in our Vision 2023 Department of Paediatrics 5-year Strategic Plan. The Division of Immunology and Allergy is an internationally recognized referral and consultation source for the diagnosis and management of primary immune deficiency diseases as well as a provincial center for patients with complex allergic conditions. The successful candidate will join a vibrant division with 6 staff physicians, an active paediatric Immunology and Allergy fellowship program, and a partner with our multi-disciplinary team that actively collaborates with medical specialties across The Hospital for Sick Children, the Greater Metropolitan Toronto vicinity, and our national and international partners to improve patient outcomes around the world. The Division of Immunology and Allergy takes exceptional pride in its basic and translational research through partnership with our world class Research Institute, supported primarily by philanthropic funds, which has resulted in groundbreaking developments published in top journals. In addition to research on primary immunodeficiencies, our Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Research Program supported through philanthropic funding remains an institutional priority in clinical and translational research with strong potential for future growth. The applicant is anticipated to expand and further develop this program as a clinician scientist with a goal of building a world-leading program. The aim is to advance teaching, diagnostic accuracy, and develop novel treatment-approaches for food and allergy anaphylaxis. The successful candidate should possess proven experience in managing children with complex allergy and immunodeficiency diseases and demonstrate documented high-quality scientific productivity in fundamental food allergy and immunology research in addition to demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and advance young faculty and fellows. The Divisional clinical care programs encompass diagnosis and treatment of complex allergic diseases, oral immunotherapy, drug allergy, and the complete portfolio of primary immune deficiencies from newborn screening to post stem cell transplantation follow-up and complex syndromes of immune dysregulation. The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($255,000-$275,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance and a relocation package. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position will remain open until filled.
