The University of Manitoba, Department of Surgery, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Shared Health Manitoba invite applications for a full-time academic orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon. The successful candidate will join the Pan Am Orthopaedic Surgical Group at Pan Am Clinic and Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The proposed starting date is September 1, 2023, (or on a date mutually agreed upon).

This is a geographical full-time, contingent position and the successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba.

The successful candidate will join an established and cohesive group of 9 subspecialty-trained academic sports, upper extremity and lower extremity surgeons. They will be expected to participate in an approximate 1-in-13 general orthopaedic trauma call schedule. Elective clinic and operating time will be provided. As an academic group, the successful candidate will be expected to both participate in and eventually lead specific research activities. The Pan Am Orthopaedic group is a high-volume subspecialty group performing over 4400 surgeries annually. The majority of complex sports injuries, upper extremity, lower extremity and foot and ankle reconstruction cases for the province of Manitoba and adjacent regions (approximately 1.6 million people) are performed by the group. In partnership with the Pan Am Foundation, the annual research budget is $1,000,000 per year with a mixture of industry, academic and government grants in addition to contract research. The research team includes clinical study coordinators, research assistants and PhDs.

Team cohesiveness has been key to the success of the Pan Am Orthopaedic group, and therefore the successful candidate must have a team-oriented approach to clinical and academic work and appropriate supportive skills to achieve these goals.
