NHA-2125 QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND SKILLS Northern Health is seeking a Pediatrician for Dawson Creek, BC. The selected candidate will be supported by a Pediatrician in nearby Fort St. John (45 minutes away). Come and enjoy our wide blue skies and northern hospitality! This is an office-based referral practice and compensation is fee-for-service. Dawson Creek is a very young community with a high birth rate (400 per year). At this time, there are no dedicated Pediatric inpatient beds. Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Services include: • 24/7 emergency • ICU • Medical and surgical in-patient care • Day surgery • Respiratory therapy • Diabetic education • Primary care • General surgery • Diagnostics • Lab • Medical imaging with CT • Cancer care • Orthopedic Trauma and Surgical Centre for the North East region of BC Dawson Creek is known as “Mile Zero”, where the world-famous Alaska Highway begins! The city has a population of approximately 12,500, provides primary service to a population of 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region, approximately 60,000. The city offers shopping, services, restaurants, cafés, a health food store, art gallery, live theatre, and the state-of-the-art EnCana Events Centre that hosts major music concerts. Our indoor Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday, year-round! Recreation opportunities include a state-of-the-art indoor Aquatic Centre, indoor walking track, gyms, yoga, Pilates, and dance studios, biking trails, golfing, swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, camping, bird watching, and visiting our numerous parks. In the wintertime, enjoy our indoor curling rink, two indoor skating rinks, a full-size outdoor speed skating oval, 25 kilometres of groomed trails for cross-country (Nordic) skiing, Bear Mountain Ski Hill (downhill skiing and snowboarding), back-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The city has a wide variety of authentic cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, and Italian (to name a few), and also a wide variety of dining atmospheres: choose from high end restaurants, hotel buffets, familiar franchises, and local coffee shops. Vacation Leave Regular/negotiable May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 23.1% Retention Flat Fee $26,591 Relocation Funding Available $9,000 - 15,000 depending on location Recruitment Incentive $20,000 Other Benefits/Incentives Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) available. Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) available. Relocation funding available: $15,000 if relocating from outside of Canada; $12,000 if relocating within Canada but outside of BC; $9,000 if relocating within BC.
