Advanced Paediatric Training in Neonatology

The Division of Neonatology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, Ontario, Canada is currently recruiting for physicians who have completed paediatric training and who have an interest in Neonatology. This fellowship offers extensive exposure to infants with complex medical and surgical diagnosis in a high level 41 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 900 admissions per year. Trainees will assist in the care of premature and term infants with a wide variety of common and rare diagnosis, and will develop expertise in caring for these infants, working with high level interprofessional teams (respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritional experts) as well as with pediatric surgeons in the preop and postop management of surgical neonates. Additionally, the fellow will have the opportunity to work with a highly specialized regionalized critical care transport service, and have opportunities to be involved in research, quality improvement and educational initiatives.

The clinical responsibilities include day-time coverage and night-time and weekend calls. We are seeking candidates who can provide a two year commitment, with the option of one year or 3 years. Upon completion of the program, trainees will receive a certificate of completion from The Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto.
Clinical Prerequisite / Eligibility:

- Canadian or International Medical Graduates – Candidates must have completed paediatric training – Have a minimum of 6 month of neonatal experience in a high level intensive care unit – Previous experience in the medical system in the UK, Ireland, Australia and North America would be beneficial

Renumeration:
Salary range is established by the Department of Paediatrics commensurate with a Clinical Fellow role and duties; including benefit options and $500 academic allowance to help underwrite the cost of travel to scientific conference. 4 weeks vacation per year.
