Northern Health is seeking a LOCUM family practitioner with C-section and advanced operative delivery skills. Surgery would be limited to C-sections only. Prenatal Clinic may be available. Opportunities for GP Clinic work; Anaesthesia and Emergency Room shifts may be available if qualified. Fort St. John Hospital is a new state-of-the art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 20,000 and a catchment area of approximately 69,000. It has a state-of-the art Birthing Centre with 600+ deliveries per year and CS call shared between a solo specialist OBG and advanced skills FPs. Prenatal and primary care OB is a shared model located in the hospital adjacent to the Delivery Suite. Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, and a health food store. It is the cultural and commercial hub of the Northeast, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre. Recreational opportunities in the Fort St. John area include speed-skating (on one of only four indoor Olympic-sized, long-track speed skating ovals in North America!), indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, walking trails, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, curling, and hockey.
