POSITION DESCRIPTION: This full-time clinical geriatrician will incorporate into a well-established Geriatric Medicine service. Our inpatient and outpatient services are well supported with administrative and nursing staff and access to SW/OT/PT services. This clinical geriatrician will be participating in regular outpatient clinics, and on a rotational basis with 4 other Geriatricians, will provide consultation service to Saint John Regional Hospital inpatients and consultation service to geriatric inpatient units at St Joseph’s Hospital. The geriatrician will have access to our comprehensive range of geriatric inpatient services for their patients including a Geriatric Assessment Unit, Restorative Care Unit, and a Cognitive Assessment Unit. We work collaboratively with Geriatric Psychiatry, with the outpatient Senior’s Mental Health Service also located at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We are affiliated with Dalhousie and Memorial University Medical Schools and our active teaching program sees many medical students and residents. The geriatrician will also contribute to academic and teaching components of our service with opportunities for collaborative research. After hours obligations are minimal, covering geriatric inpatient units approximately one week in twelve. Hours of work are normally provided between 0830hrs – 1630hrs Monday to Friday, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Service/Department Head. After-hours and weekend call coverage in coordination with members of the Department. |

Remuneration |
This is a Salaried position, remuneration is based on the New Brunswick Medical Pay Plan. The current rates range between $241,748 to a maximum of $293,904 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. On call remuneration is Fee-for-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare New Brunswick.

Qualification Requirements

Education |
A medical degree is required.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. Preference will be given to those who hold or are eligible for certification in Geriatric Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada00. Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills. Good attendance and work record. Physically able to perform assign duties. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada. |
