Job ID: 16587 | |
Northern Health is seeking Child & Youth Psychiatrists to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to design practice around your specific interests within child and youth psychiatry, including child/adolescent assessments, crisis stabilization, longitudinal care, pediatric client liaison, psychotherapy and addictions care. The selected candidates will support the regional program of the Adolescent Psychiatric Assessment Unit (6 beds) and work in both in patient and outpatient. Northern Health has created an innovative model of Primary Care Teams, where psychiatrists can collaborate with inter-professional teams for patients’ mental health. The department is involved in teaching medical students, family practice residents and psychiatry residents. On-call is once per week or less and is usually done in 12 hour increments. We welcome all interested candidates, including new in practice physicians and those holding a provisional license! Prince George is the centre of business, education, health and culture for northern British Columbia and services a rural population of about 400,000. The region’s economic growth and diversification strategies are creating outstanding opportunities for investors, employers and employees. Affordable housing, land prices and transportation costs, due to short and quick commutes; result in one of the lowest costs of living for a city of its size in the province. Additionally, wage rates fall above provincial averages, providing residents of Prince George with a high standard of living in one of BC’s most beautiful regions. The city itself is the 4th largest in British Columbia and has a population of approximately 77,000. It is built on the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh. Prince George is the home of the University of Northern British Columbia – Canada’s Green University. The warm, friendly and diverse population attests to a strong and dynamic community spirit. If you are currently practicing or within one year of graduating, and are interested in opportunities in Northern BC, we would invite you and your spouse\partner to come and explore practice opportunities and the city of Prince George.
