Develops, implements and monitors, policy, plans, and standards for public health on behalf of Northern Health and provides policy advice to the Executive Team and the Board as a member of the Executive Team. Provides leadership, support and advice in community medicine (including population health, epidemiology, health promotion, disease prevention, health protection) to improve the health of the population residing in Northern BC. Leads and functions as a member of a team of Medical Health Officers. Participates in collaborative planning with the other MHO’s and other members of the public health team regarding policy, goals and objectives, program plans, service delivery and resource allocation to achieve desired outcomes. Works in partnership with other programs, communities and physicians to protect and improve public and population health. The CMHO will also assume an executive leadership role for special initiatives and projects that contribute to NH’s strategic plan. Ensures all external reporting to provincial/federal bodies. Qualifications: - A Medical Degree with a license to practice medicine in the province of British Columbia plus; – A Masters in Health Sciences, preferably with specialty qualifications in Community Medicine. – At least 5 years of experience in a management position responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs in Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, Injury Prevention, Population Health Surveillance, Drinking Water Quality and Community Care Facilities Licensing. Competencies: - Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate public health programs. – Demonstrated leadership skills. – Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills. – Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various groups and agencies. – Effective research, analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. – Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging health care and general public health issues, including communicable disease and environmental health, and related provincial and federal policies and practices. – Demonstrated commitment to a team-based collaborative approach to providing progressive FOR INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT: |
