The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (650 Main Street, Winnipeg MB R3B 1E2) and the University of Manitoba, Department of Surgery (business addresses noted below), invite applications for a full-time, permanent Cardiac Surgeon. Main duties of the job include diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart, performing surgery on the heart and major blood vessels surrounding it, other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 75% of the position.

The successful candidate would also be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 25% of the position. Job duties are required in English.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Cardiac Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Applicants will have fellowship training in one or more of the areas of cardiac surgery. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and training in complex aortic pathology and transcatheter structural heart interventions. Clinical research is an expectation. Additional postgraduate training in education or research would be an asset.

Compensation:

Compensation is derived from fee-for-service income with a minimum income guarantee of $650,000/annual. Specialty Physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive. Please contact physicianrecruitment@sharedhealthmb.ca for further information.
