Details: Winnipeg MB, CA The Max Rady College of Medicine and Shared Health are seeking an individual to provide outstanding leadership for the joint position of Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine and Provincial Specialty Lead – Family Medicine, Shared Health. This position is normally for a five-year term commencing December 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications or experience. Responsibilities This role presents a unique and exciting opportunity to combine oversight of a well-established university department, built upon a solid foundation of the discipline, innovative models of teaching and robust research collaboration, with a transformative provincial clinical leadership role where the direction of Family medical care and development of strong collaborative partnerships will drive strategic planning, quality improvement, patient safety and equitable clinical standards throughout Manitoba. The University of Manitoba, Max Rady College of Medicine, is a major centre of medical education and research linked to many institutions throughout Canada and the world. It offers a full range of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs. Shared Health was established in 2018 as Manitoba’s Provincial Health Authority during a period of broad health system transformation. The organization is responsible for leading provincial planning and delivering provincial services to create equitable, safe, accessible, trusted and sustainable pathways to care. The Department of Family Medicine provides recruitment, clinical teaching, training and support to undergraduate and postgraduate students, residents and fellows. The Department is also responsible for the Masters of Physician Assistant Program and the International Medical Graduate Program. Education and training are provided throughout the Province of Manitoba. As a member of the provincial clinical leadership team, the Family Medicine Specialty Lead will be responsible for strategic planning, overseeing of all aspects of medical care, including safety and standards. The Lead will work collaboratively with provincial clinical colleagues and operational leaders within regional health organizations, to support the planning and The successful candidate will be positioned to create innovative, sustainable changes in health service delivery through developing consistent, high quality services and equitable healthcare for all Manitobans. Qualifications Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. From a clinical perspective, the successful candidate will have extensive experience providing patient care in a Family Medicine setting.
