Associate / Full Professor – Academic Hepatologist Longo Family Chair in Liver Cancer Research The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the University Health Network and Sinai Health System is seeking to recruit an Academic Hepatologist for The Toronto Centre for Liver Disease at the Toronto General Hospital (200 Elizabeth Street, Toronto), University Health Network. This position is for a 5-year term, renewable following a successful review, and supported by the Longo Family Chair in Liver Cancer Research. The successful candidate will be an expert physician (MD or equivalent with residency and subspeciality training) in the management of acute and chronic liver disease with a strong academic track record in liver cancer research with a plan to grow the dynamic, high volume, liver cancer program at University Health Network both clinically and academically. The successful candidate will join the academic faculty full-time at UHN and be responsible for management of outpatients and inpatients with liver disease and liver cancer, including oversight of multidisciplinary liver cancer rounds held weekly at the hospital. In addition to the clinical duties, the successful candidate will hold a graduate degree (MSc/PhD) and will be expected to grow the academic liver cancer research program, including leading and supporting investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials as well as translational liver disease research. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, with a minimum salary of $300,000 CAD annually, which will be a combination of fee-for-service clinical care, as well as salary support from the Longo Family Chair in Liver Cancer Research. The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English. For the successful candidate, compensation will be highly competitive and with the usual income range for a senior academic hepatologist in the Province of Ontario.
