Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB R3C 5R9), the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and The University of Manitoba, Department of Otolaryngology (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Head and Neck Surgeon to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and x-rays and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, and medical research, which job duties encompass 90% of the position. The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibilities and requires individuals with clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and tertiary care medicine.

The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Lecturer (or higher depending on current academic rank), and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 10% of the position. Job duties are required in English.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and/or General Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Applicants will have fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology (or equivalent). Although the focus of this position is head and neck surgical oncology, the successful applicant must have the skills to provide Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery call as part of the team covering the largest tertiary care hospital in the province. Additional skills including advanced degrees would be beneficial; a commitment to education, research and/or other academic pursuits is required.

The candidate must be eager to work in a group setting, showing commitment to working in a collegial and supportive manner with the surgeons at the site. The successful applicants will be directly involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training as well as education for other healthcare providers.

Compensation:

Compensation is derived from fee-for-service income (approximate range from $325,000-$500,000/annual).
