Locum Position – Palliative Care: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Departments of Medicine, Family and Community Medicine and Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Palliative Care, University Health Network (UHN) are seeking one full-time clinician with expertise in teaching, research or quality improvement in palliative and/or hospice medicine, to be based at the University Health Network for a one year locum position at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The successful candidates must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer. The position will be 80% clinical and 20% teaching and/or research. Clinical care includes inpatient consultation service, outpatient clinic and call coverage.

Expected start date for all the position is April 1, 2023 for a one year term ending March 2024 .

Overview of Palliative Care Program:
The Division of Palliative Care at the University Health Network spans five sites: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and our affiliated community partner Kensington Hospice.

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre interdisciplinary palliative care program includes inpatient consultations, outpatient clinics, and an acute palliative care unit.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have completed training in a recognized palliative medicine postgraduate training program, and have, or be eligible for, licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Responsibilities will include excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.

Remuneration will be consistent with similar academic positions in Toronto and will be funded through fee-for-service billings. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the University Hospital Palliative Care Practice Plan, through which all earnings will be administered.
