Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB R3C 3H8) and The University of Manitoba, Department of Surgery (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a full-time spinal Neurosurgeon to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, perform surgery, prescribe medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and x-rays and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, and medical research, which job duties encompass 75% of the position.

The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 25% of the position. Job duties are required in English.

The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibility and requires individuals with clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and tertiary care medicine. The Program incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective Neurosurgery. The Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg provides comprehensive Neurosurgical care to a population base of 1.2 million people.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Neurosurgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Fellowship training in spinal neurosurgery is required.

Compensation:

Compensation is as per Doctors Manitoba agreement ($620,967.00 annual).
