Details: Shared Health Manitoba Renal Program and the Department of Internal Medicine Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, invite applications for a Clinician-Teacher in the Section of Nephrology. The section is one of 17 in the Department of Internal Medicine, providing patient care, undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education, and research. Manitoba Renal Program (MRP) coordinates and delivers kidney health-care services for adults in Manitoba and promotes kidney health through education. The program is an interdisciplinary team of health-care professionals working together alongside hospitals, regional health authorities, governments and communities to deliver the highest quality kidney health care and education. This is a non-GFT, NIL academic appointment within the Section of Nephrology commencing October 1, 2022 or as soon thereafter as possible. The position is in the Clinician -Teacher stream with the successful candidate expected to provide direct contact teaching of undergraduate medical students, participate in post-graduate teaching of residents and attend academic functions in the Section of Nephrology. Further academic training and skills would be an asset as the candidate would also be encouraged to participate in research and quality initiatives. The successful candidate will provide clinical care at Saint Boniface General Hospital, on the inpatient Consult Service, Hemodialysis, and Peritoneal Dialysis Services, Renal Clinics, and be willing to be trained in the insertion of tunneled hemodialysis catheters. The Saint Boniface Hospital Interventional Nephrology Service inserts approximately 200 tunneled catheters per year. Having expertise in performing this procedure would be an asset. On call duties will be shared with six other nephrologists, in this busy tertiary center. The current nephrologist group has members with a variety of academic interests including clinical research, medical education and interventional nephrology. The Section of Nephrology has access to substantial resources within the health system. There are presently 29 full-time academic Nephrologists within the Section with major clinical and academic responsibilities in the Section of Nephrology, and additional part time members. Qualifications: Candidates must have specialty qualifications in Nephrology in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred. Compensation: Compensation is derived from fee-for-service income.
