Details: Shared Health, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and The University of Manitoba, Department of Surgery (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Plastic Surgeon to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. This is a temporary full time position. Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, bring patients for surgery, ordering lab tests and x-rays and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, and medical research, which job duties encompass 75% of the position. Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Plastic Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibilities, call responsibilities and requires individuals to be generally comfortable in burn care, microsurgery (replantation), pediatric care and tertiary care medicine. The successful candidate will be required to support the Section of Plastic Surgery with leadership roles, a commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and participate and publish research. The Program incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective Plastic Surgery. The Health Sciences Centre of Winnipeg provides comprehensive Plastic Surgery care to a population base of 1.2 million people. The candidate must be eager to work in a group setting, showing commitment to working in a collegial and supportive manner with the surgeons at the site. The site is hoping to expand its footprint in residency education and build on an already exemplary track record or resident and medical student teaching. Compensation: Remuneration is a generous Minimum Income Amount ($586,500/annum). Specialty Physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive.
