Launched in 2013 by the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto (University of Toronto), the Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative is set to transform mental health care for children and youth. With the founding Chief, Dr. Peter Szatmari, stepping down, there exists an opportunity for an accomplished clinician and researcher to lead the expansion of bold and positive changes in the understanding and treatment of child and youth mental health. The Chief of this one-of-a-kind collaborative assumes the Patsy and Jamie Anderson Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health. The CYMHC reflects the commitment of three globally recognized institutions to transform mental health care delivery, accelerate mental health research, and develop a robust next generation of child and youth psychiatrists and mental health clinicians in Canada. With the deep and wide fractures in today’s society, the economy, and families, mental health has never been more important. There exists an imperative to achieve unparalleled improvements and better outcomes in child and youth mental health through collaborations, innovations and partnerships. The Chief must be a visionary leader who will link clinical priorities to research and professional development through clinical innovation, research, and training. They will convey passion for both the clinical and academic aspects of the role and will ensure impact both internally and externally. The role is primarily strategic but also demands experience in, and appreciation for, what it takes to execute across complex multiple stakeholder structures towards shared objectives. Specifically, the Chief oversees and inspires several direct reports and over 100 faculty members. The role demands leadership not only internally across three prestigious institutions, but also externally with government and community stakeholders. The Chief is accountable to the Labatt Family Chair, Department of Psychiatry at University of Toronto, SickKids’ Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs and the Physician-in-Chief at CAMH.

All candidates must be proficient in English. Estimated remuneration will be in a range of $560,000 to $600,000 per annum and commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience with opportunity to earn more based on additional fee for service earnings. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, pension plan and which may include a relocation package. This is a full-time permanent role. This position is located at 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. The position will be based primarily at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
