Head, Division of Nephrology, Department of Paediatrics

The Division of Nephrology at The Hospital for Sick Children, Department of Paediatrics, an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time permanent faculty position as Head, Division of Nephrology.

The Divisional clinical care programs encompass In-Patient Nephrology, Ambulatory Services, Dialysis and Apheresis and the Kidney Transplant Program offering exposure to the full spectrum of renal disease in general nephrology, acute and chronic renal replacement, and transplantation. Canadian and international trainees have embraced the opportunity to pursue the fellowship in the Paediatric Nephrology Training Program offering exposure to the full spectrum of renal disease in general nephrology, acute and chronic renal replacement, and transplantation.

The successful candidate will act as a key steward and mentor for our diverse faculty and trainees, be a key collaborator to our allied health and nursing teams, innovative partner to the Research Institute and champion the clinical services, education, and research discoveries, while playing a key strategic role to ensure alignment of academic activities to the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dedicated to supporting the growing diversification and spectrum of specialized clinical service for children with acute, chronic, and end-stage kidney disease, this leadership role will provide unique opportunities for creative and professional activities, ability to lead in scientific and educational advancement and champion meaningful innovative translational research to clinical care locally, nationally, and internationally.

The successful candidate is expected to have leadership and mentoring experience with a track record of academic and research excellence and have demonstrated vision for child and youth health.

The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($250,000-$390,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
