Academic Care of the Elderly Physician

The Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for a Family Physician, certified in Care of the Elderly, appointment in the Division of Geriatric Medicine. The incumbent will assist the Division in fulfilling its academic and clinical missions within the Department of Medicine and University. The position will involve a mix of both ambulatory and inpatient clinical roles with shared on-call responsibilities for inpatients in a Geriatric rehabilitation ward at Providence Care Hospital.

In addition to a major focus on providing exemplary clinic service, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for teaching and supervising students and residents at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level, exhibit strong potential for innovative and scholarly research in collaborative setting, and will be expected to contribute to the administrative functions of the University and hospitals. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold certification by the College of Family Physicians. Preference will be given to those who have completed enhanced skill training in Care of the Elderly.
