Lifemark Meadowlark – Clinical Alternative Relationship Plan (ARP) with Alberta Health is actively seeking physicians with an interest in chronic pain and addiction to join the team!

Lifemark Meadowlark offers clinical space in a medical mall with access to diagnostics, lab testing, various specialists and pharmacy. The clinic houses over 50 skilled physicians and clinicians (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, kinesiologists, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, yoga instructors, and dieticians) with many years of experience assisting patients at all points along the rehabilitation continuum.

The ARP provides an interdisciplinary approach to the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of complex chronic pain patients inclusive of but not limited to musculoskeletal pain, complex regional pain, neurological pain, chronic fatigue, cancer related, complex pain with addictions, etc. The focus of the program is to develop individual treatment programs using current, evidence-based approach with a strong impetus for self-management, functional restoration, and improved quality of life.

The current team includes general practitioners and specialties including addiction, care of the elderly, occupational medicine, physiatry and psychiatry. The physicians work closely with the rehabilitation team to ensure patients suffering from chronic pain conditions are provided the best and timely care.

Primary duties:

Conduct thorough medical assessment and examinations to determine pain diagnoses and recommended investigations and treatment as required.
Liaise and consult with family physicians, specialists and other health care providers.
Discuss medical problems, plans and requirements with referral sources as appropriate.
Provide education sessions for staff, treatment teams and others as required.
Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure patients receive an individualized program inclusive of the physical, psychosocial, and functional aspects of care.

Education, Skills, Abilities:

Doctor of Medicine – and any specialty is welcome – GP’s, psychiatry, physiatry, internal medicine, neurosurgery, etc.
Licensed to practice in the province of Alberta
Good knowledge of musculoskeletal medicine
Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other correspondence
Ability to communicate using different styles and methods to suit individual needs
Superior team and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and computer skills (e.g. Microsoft, dictation/transcription systems, healthcare platforms, etc.)
Knowledge/experience with third party funder requests (e.g. workers’ compensation, insurance, short term/long term disability, etc.)
